MONKAYO, Compostela Valley – The new commander of the 25th Infantry Battalion has embarked on initiating peace building program in winning the hearts of the people residing at their area of jurisdiction.

Lt. Col. Cesar Molina, 25th IB commander, said that they have deployed Peace and Development Teams (PDTs) to farflung barangays in Monkayo, Montevista and Compostela to conduct community outreach programs and dialogues to address their needs.

Molina said that he himself personally led his men in immersing to communities to see for himself what should be done to depressed areas which have not been visited by the local government due to distance and peace and order situation.

He said this is one way that these people could develop their trust to the government and that they will not be swayed by some false information inculcated by the insurgents operating in their area.

“Our role here is just supporters to the local government in promoting peace and development efforts in certain barangays and sitios,” he told reporters in an interview.

Aside from that, Molina said they have also established collaboration efforts with Davao-based non-government organizations like Kiwanis Club and Mason groups to conduct community outreach programs in chosen farflung barangays.
