Controversial ‘hot’ car dealer running for mayor in Bukidnon town

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – As if using his notoriety and not popularity, Lynard Allan Bigcas, is throwing his hat in the mayoral race in his hometown Talakag in Bukidnon province with only two more weeks before the filing of Certificate of Candidacy (COC) for the upcoming May 11, 2012 midterm polls.
Bigcas recently made headlines after he was arrested for charges of illegal drugs by operatives of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) in Northern Mindanao on August 4 at Rotunda, Cagayan de Oro City but immediately posted a bail bond of P320,000 for his temporary liberty.
On February 19, he also figured in a shooting incident with lawyer Roberto Mauro Miguel Palma Gil, regional director of the HLURB in Southern Mindanao Region along F. Torres Street. Palma Gil was hospitalized for a gunshot wound and filed a case against Bigkas.
But Bigcas was more known for being an alleged dealer of “hot” luxurious cars including big bikes after his warehouses in Talakag, Bukidnon and Kauswagan in Cagayan de Oro were raided by authorities two years ago.
Bigcas’ candidacy was confirmed himself by Talakag Vice Mayor Renato R. Sulatan Sr., who will also be running for mayor in the elections under the ruling Liberal Party (LP) of President Benigno Simeon Aquino III.
Sulatan said Bigcas maybe running as independent since the incumbent mayor, Nestor B. Macapayag, is seeking re-election under United Nationalist Alliance (UNA) of Vice President Jejomar Binay.
“So tulo mi managan ug mayor karong election,” Sulatan said in an interview Saturday night at Chali Restaurant in Cagayan de Oro City.
Talakag is a first-class municipality and is one of Bukidnon’s major producers of pineapple and Cavendish bananas. (ASA)
