Duterte’s party bares line-up

THE Hugpong sa Tawong  Lungsod, the local party founded by Vice Mayor Rodrigo Duterte, is fielding 10 city council candidates in the first district, 12 in the second and 10 in the third district.

Duterte read the list Friday night infront of Hugpong members, barangay captains and other supporters during the party’s convention at the SMX Convention Center Davao located at the 3rd floor of the newly-opened SM Lanang Premier.

Incumbent first district city councilors like Nilo M. Abellera Jr., Edgar Ibuyan, Leah Librado, Melchor Quitain, and Emmanuel Galicia are in the line-up. Others are comebacking Leo Avila, Bonifacio Militar, and Mabel Acosta. Newbies are Oscar Casaysay,and Dumoy barangay captain Jessi Mar Culaste.

In the second district, the candidates are reelectionists Al Ryan Alejandre, Louie John Bonguyan, April Marie Dayap, Tomasing Monteverde, Jimmy Dureza, and Marissa Salvador-Abella.  Making a comeback are Danilo Dayanghirang, Diosdado Mahipus and Gerard Bangoy. New faces are Panacan barangay captain Arnold Apostol, Rachel Batiganzo, wife of big-time miner Nelson “Tata” Sala, and Malen Cabling, sister of last-termer councillor Arnolfo Ricardo Cabling.

While in the third district,  city councilors Victorio U. Advincula Jr. Karlo Bello, Myrna Dalodo-Ortiz, Rachel Zozobrado, Bernard Al-ag are seeking reelection. The five others are newcomers  Jose Marie Baluran, son of councillor Conrado Baluran, Jocel Villafuerte, wife of councilor Louie Villafuerte, Gerard Braganza, Eduardo Trinidad, GMA 7 Davao Testigo host Antonette Prinsipe.

Catalunan Grande barangay captain and Association of Barangay Captains president Paolo Duterte is running for vice mayor while the elder Duterte and Mayor Sara Duterte could be running as city mayor and first district congressman or vice versa.

Rep. Mylene Garcia-Albano and Rep. Isidro Ungab are both running in the second and third district, respectively, to seek their third term. (ASA)
