JV Ejercito praises ‘improved’ Pag-asa

By Anthony S. Allada

DAVAO CITY – San Juan City lone district Rep. Joseph Victor Ejercito was all praises for the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical Astronomical Services Administration (Pag-asa) for improving a lot in monitoring weather condition in the country.

“In fairness to Pag-asa, it has improved a lot in terms of predicting weather conditions that could forewarn the public,” Ejercito said during his recent visit here.

He said although the weather agency failed to exactly predict the landfall of typhoon Pablo, the warning was already issued that prepared government agencies and local government units to enforce forced evacuation in certain areas.

“Umiikot kasi yan kaya wala talagang makapag-sabi kung san talaga mag-landfall ang bagyo (The strong wind is twirling and we could not really exactly predict the landfall of the storm). But at least we were already forewarned,” he said.

He cited the 2009 typhoon that hit San Juan City where they were all caught off-guard that resulted to heavy destruction of properties and the death of several people because Pag-asa was not that modernized.

“But now we can say that modernization is really working in Pag-asa. I salute them for a job well done,” he said. (ASA)
